On November 27th, international students from CIE went on a long-waited field trip to the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Hall in Shanghai Museum. The cold rain didn’t put out their enthusiasm of exploring Chinese art.

During the trip, students finished four tasks in groups, including distinguishing the dynasties and fonts of Chinese Calligraphy works, looking for plants in Chinese paintings and finding paintings according to the clues. Only when the group completes one task can they get on with the next task. The group that completes the four tasks in shortest time is the big winner. The most difficult task is to listen to the description look for a certain painting work. The painting is not very prominent in the gallery, but even so, it is still found by all groups. Some students listened to the recording for more than ten times, go back and forth carefully to explore the details of the painting, and finally made it. All students enjoyed the field trip and learned a lot. They not only practiced Chinese language, but also enjoyed the beauty of Chinese painting and calligraphy.

CIE will offer more interesting field trips and cultural workshops, combine language learning with practice, and enables students to actively use Chinese.
